SAFETY AND SECURITY GLASS

Safety and burglar-resistant glazing

Characteristics

SECURITY GLASS

Glass with increased resistance to burglary or attack is used when a building needs protection while preserving the facade's aesthetics, allowing grilles, louvred shutters and roller shutters to be avoided. Security glass is laminated glass.

SAFETY GLASS

This type of glass protects against injury wherever conditions of use create a risk of glass breakage and fragments falling onto people. Such locations include hospitals, schools, nurseries and shop windows.

We distinguish the following types of safety glass:
1. toughened
2. laminated.

Advantages

TEMPORARY PROTECTION AGAINST ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

Window glass may seem the weakest part of a house when it comes to burglary protection. However, modern solutions provide effective protection against attempted entry through a window. This is the purpose of laminated glass, consisting of two glass panes with several layers of PVB interlayer between them, depending on the required level of protection. All glass offered meets the requirements of European standard EN 356.

PROTECTION AGAINST INJURY IF GLASS BREAKS

The risk of injury from breaking glass exists wherever room users are close to glazed partitions, especially in circulation areas. We offer two solutions for protection against such injuries:

– laminated safety glass which, thanks to its construction, does not fall out after impact and breakage but remains in its frame or fixings,

– toughened glass which breaks into small pieces with blunt edges after impact.
All glass offered meets the requirements of European standard EN 12600.

INCREASED RESISTANCE TO GLASS BREAKAGE

If there is a risk of glass breakage where glass is used, multi-layer laminated glass should be installed. This ensures that when the glass surface is struck and breaks, the glass remains in the window frame or fixing element.

Safety and burglar-resistant glazing

Double glazing safety glass, is laminated glass resistant to burglary and breakage !

This glass is perfect for optimal comfort and security. The windows have optimal resistance to drilling and attempts to break them with a hammer, sledgehammer or axe.

Appropriate protection for shops and boutiques with open window displays , agencies (estate agents, banks, etc.) and mid-range and high-end villas.

There are various types of safety glass, categorised by protection class and glass thickness.

EXTREME PROTECTION

The double glazing has a 44/6 laminate, designated under European standard EN 356.
The SP acronym identifies an enhanced level of protection. 5 indicates class P5A of EN 356. 10 indicates the total thickness, 10 mm.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

• Total thickness 10,3 mm
• Weight of SP510 = approx. 25 kg/m²
• Total double-glazing weight = approx. 35 kg/m²

INSULATING GLAZING QUALITIES (28 mm)

• Thermal insulation coefficient
U = 1,1 W/(m².°K) with low-emissivity glazing and argon gas
• Sound insulation coefficient = 30 dB(A) Road
• Light transmission coefficient = 75% with low-emissivity glazing
• UV radiation blocked by 90%
