More than another wooden window: Why STW-67 changes the way we design

In modern architecture, wooden windows and doors are part of a building’s energy strategy, structural design and long-term sustainability as well as its aesthetics. That is why SAPLAST developed STW-67, its own wooden window and door system designed for real contemporary building requirements rather than catalogue-profile limitations.
What is STW-67?
STW-67 is a systematically developed wooden window profile with a construction depth of 67–68 mm, for windows, balcony doors, fixed and combined elements. It is designed for buildings requiring high energy efficiency, structural stability and a long service life.
Unlike standard market profiles, STW-67 is not simply a “profile to use”, but a system designed, documented and fully controlled by SAPLAST — from profile sections to surface finish.
Our own system, full control
SAPLAST owns the entire STW-67 system:
frame and sash structural sections
joints, tolerances and CNC machining
glazing position and sealing concept
complete technical and CAD documentation
Architects, designers and investors therefore do not depend on third-party licences or universal solutions. STW-67 allows project-specific adaptation, development of special versions and confidence in long-term system sustainability and repeatable implementation.
A structural concept developed for real loads
STW-67 is a solid laminated timber system with multilayer bonding to resist twisting and deformation. Profile geometry is optimised to carry heavy double and triple glazing while keeping frames and sashes structurally stable.
Laminated timber (pine, spruce or oak, as specified), industrial waterproof bonding and correct grain orientation ensure controlled timber behaviour under humidity and temperature changes, directly extending service life.
Glazing, sealing and energy performance
The system accommodates insulating glazing up to approximately 36–40 mm, with multistage sealing and precisely defined glazing support points. This prevents water penetration, condensation and timber degradation.
Construction depth, wood’s natural insulation, triple sealing and quality glazing combine to produce low Uf values and stable internal surface temperatures. Independent European laboratory testing confirms energy performance, including CERIBOIS/CERILAB reports.
Finishing and lasting aesthetics
STW-67 uses industrially controlled painting and varnishing systems with high resistance to UV radiation, moisture and wear. A wide range of RAL and NCS shades is available, alongside transparent and translucent finishes preserving natural wood texture. Surface protection extends service life and significantly reduces maintenance.
Sustainability and certifications
All wooden components hold PEFC certification, guaranteeing timber from sustainably managed forests. STW-67 therefore meets modern environmental standards and responsible construction requirements.
Why should architects and investors specify STW-67?
Because STW-67 is an uncompromising system enabling:
clear technical project specifications
reliable delivery without improvisation
long-term stability and dependable energy performance
a platform for wood-ALU and specialist versions
STW-67 is a system to design with, not merely install.
An invitation to designers and investors
If you design residential or commercial buildings, invest in projects or work as a consultancy, request and specify STW-67 wooden windows and doors in your projects. SAPLAST provides technical documentation, advice and adaptation to your building.
SAPLAST STW-67 TRADITIONAL
As technology develops, the use of wood continues to advance through improvements to its properties. Whether the design is rustic, contemporary or minimalist, wooden windows bring a special warmth and luxury to interiors and exteriors. Wooden windows have been proven to provide the highest level of thermal and sound insulation compared with other materials.
Wood has always been an excellent choice for manufacturing windows and doors. In addition to its warmth and beauty, wooden joinery is considered the healthiest material for this purpose. Wooden windows allow a room to “breathe”, as wood is the only material that allows water vapour diffusion.

WE CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
All wooden components carry PEFC certification (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), an internationally recognised certification confirming that wood and paper products come from sustainably managed forests. PEFC promotes responsible forest management to ensure the conservation of biodiversity, the protection of ecosystems and the long-term sustainability of forests.
This certification allows consumers to identify products sourced from sustainably managed forests, helping to reduce deforestation and protect natural resources. PEFC certification covers the entire supply chain, from the forest to the finished product, ensuring transparency and accountability in the forestry industry
